Privacy Policy

I believe in being straightforward about how this site works, what information gets collected when you visit, and what happens with it. You deserve to know. So here it is, in plain language.

Who Runs This Site

KU Graphics is a personal site run by me, Greg Williams. I’m a design instructor who writes about graphic design education, creative research, and the intersection of teaching and technology. The site address is https://kugraphics.org.

This is not a corporate operation. There’s no marketing department, no data team, no boardroom full of people figuring out how to monetize your browsing habits. It’s one person sharing what he’s learned from 25 years of teaching design.

What Information Gets Collected

When You Visit the Site

Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how people find and use the site. That means when you visit, Google Analytics collects things like what pages you looked at, how long you stayed, what device and browser you’re using, and roughly where you’re located (city level, not your street address).

I use this information for one reason: to understand which content is useful to you and which isn’t. If nobody’s reading the typography posts but everyone’s reading the creativity exercises, that tells me something important about what to write next.

Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

When You Use the Contact Form

If you fill out the contact form on this site, you’re giving me your name, email address, and whatever you write in the message. That information comes directly to me. I use it to respond to you and that’s it. I don’t add you to any list, I don’t share your information with anyone, and I don’t sell it. Your message is a conversation between us.

Contact form submissions are processed through WPForms and stored securely on this site’s server. I keep them only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry.

When You Join the Email List

If you sign up for the email list, you’re giving me your email address (and your name, if you choose to share it). I use this to send you updates about new posts, creative exercises, and things I think you’ll find useful for your own design work.

Here’s what I won’t do with your email: sell it, share it, rent it, trade it, or give it to anyone else for any reason. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. When you unsubscribe, your information is removed. No guilt trips, no “are you sure?” loops. You’re out.

Cookies

This site uses cookies. Here’s what that actually means for you.

Analytics cookies: Google Analytics places cookies on your browser to understand how people use the site. These cookies don’t identify you personally. They track things like whether you’re a new or returning visitor and which pages you viewed.

WordPress cookies: If you leave a comment, you may opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies so you don’t have to fill them in again next time. These are purely for your convenience and expire after one year.

That’s it. No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels from social media companies, no third-party data brokers.

Who Your Information Gets Shared With

Short answer: almost nobody.

The site runs on WordPress hosting, which means the hosting company has access to server logs (that’s standard for any website). Google has access to the analytics data they collect. If you join the email list, the email service provider processes those emails.

I don’t sell your data. I don’t share your data with advertisers. I don’t let third parties use your information for their own purposes. This site exists to teach and share, not to harvest.

How Long Your Information Is Kept

Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to complete our conversation. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings (14 months). Email list information is kept for as long as you’re subscribed. If you ask me to delete anything, I will.

Your Rights

You have every right to know what information I have about you, and to ask me to delete it. If you want to see what data has been collected, want something corrected, or want everything removed, just reach out through the contact page. I’ll take care of it.

If you’re in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object. If you’re in California, the CCPA gives you similar protections. I respect all of them.

Changes to This Policy

If I make changes to how this site handles your information, I’ll update this page. Nothing sneaky, nothing buried in fine print. The date at the bottom tells you when this was last updated.

Questions?

If you have questions about any of this, use the contact form or email me directly. I’m one person running one site. Your question will reach me, and I’ll answer it.
